Learning Outcomes

By the end of this chapter, police officers should be able to:

  1. Recognise the most common and serious forms of violence, abuse and exploitation affecting children;
  2. Apply the correct legal framework when responding to offences against children;
  3. Take prompt, lawful and child-sensitive action to ensure safety, protection and investigation; and
  4. Coordinate effectively with child protection and support services to secure ongoing care and recovery for the child.
