The Sindh Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Act, 2016 is a provincial law enacted “to make provisions for the protection of children against corporal punishment by any person” across a wide range of settings, including workplaces, educational institutions (formal, non-formal and religious), and child care and alternative care settings. The Act affirms that a child has the right to dignity and protection from all forms of physical and humiliating punishment, and explicitly prohibits corporal punishment “in all its forms” by any person, ensuring that disciplinary measures must respect the child’s personality, individuality, and emotional well-being.
